Russia Not Prepared to Hear American Representatives' Statements Regarding Protests in Russia – Peskov
The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, has stated that Russia is not ready to accept statements from American representatives regarding illegal actions in the country, as reported by the RIA Novosti news agency.
Yesterday, the press secretary of the American diplomatic mission, Rebecca Ross, announced that the United States calls on Moscow to fulfill its international obligations in light of arrests made before and during protests in Russian cities. Additionally, amid reports of arrests of journalists, the American diplomatic mission urged Russian authorities on its Twitter account to "respect press freedom."
“As for the statements made by American representatives concerning our country and the illegal actions taking place within it, I once again emphasize that we are not ready to perceive and listen to the Americans’ remarks,” Peskov stated.
Previously, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had advised foreign politicians making comments about the situation involving Alexei Navalny to respect international law and to focus on issues within their own countries, while Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that statements from Western politicians on this topic seem to be mere repetitions.
