Armenian Ministry of Health Approves Use of Russian Sputnik V Vaccine
The Ministry of Health of Armenia has approved the use of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus. This information was confirmed by the Ministry's press service.
On November 21, 2020, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko and Anna Popova, head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, visited the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Yerevan to attend the opening ceremony of a mobile laboratory. They also brought samples of the COVID-19 Sputnik V vaccine.
A trial vaccination was conducted with the Russian vaccine on 15 individuals. In a press conference held in early January, Gayane Sahakyan, Deputy Director of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention and head of the National Immunization Program, who was one of the vaccinated individuals, reported that no complications had been recorded among those vaccinated with the Russian-made Sputnik V vaccine in Armenia.
