Snow and Ice on Roads in RA Regions: Drive Only with Winter Tires

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has informed that there are closed roads across the territory of Armenia.

The Vardenyats Pass and the Goris-Sisian road in the Syunik region are closed due to blizzards. The roads from the ‘Amberd’ high-altitude meteorological station in Aragatsotn province leading to Amberd Fortress and to Khar lake are also closed.

There is black ice present in certain areas of the winding roads in Dilijan city of Tavush province, in Tigranashen village of Ararat province, and on the Vanadzor-Dilijan route in Lori, as well as on the Mantash-Alagyaz road in Shirak province, and in various sections of Gegharkunik, Kotayk, Aragatsotn, and Syunik provinces. Additionally, there are reports of black ice on the roads in the Vayots Dzor province segment from Saravan to ‘Zanger’, and in the cities of Vayk and Jermuk.

Snow is falling in Shirak province (with the exception of Artik and Maralik cities), in Ararat province’s Ashtarak and Talin cities, and in the Aragats region. In Kotayk province, snow is reported in Abovyan and Yeghvard cities.

According to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for all types of vehicles, with approximately 470 trucks stranded on the Russian side.

The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that the decision to prohibit foreign nationals from entering Georgia remains in effect; however, this does not apply to freight transport.

Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
