Rights of Residents with Russian Passports in Ukraine to be Restricted

A draft bill has been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada, proposing the establishment of dual citizenship in Ukraine. It is expected that those holding passports from the 'aggressor country' will face restrictions on their rights. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

According to parliamentary members, the bill would allow Ukrainians to engage with domestic issues and actively participate in the political life of the country while retaining their foreign citizenship. However, this does not apply to those who hold Russian passports.

“Ukrainian citizens who hold citizenship of a country recognized as an aggressor against Ukraine are proposed to be prohibited from exercising their electoral rights,” reads the explanatory note attached to the bill.
