Five Prisoners of War Return to Armenia from Group of 62 Soldiers in Shirak Province
Today, five prisoners of war who returned to Armenia are part of a group of 62 soldiers from Shirak Province. This was stated by Boris Avagyan, the special representative of Artsakh's President Arayik Harutyunyan, during a conversation with reporters. He noted that the names of those returning will be announced soon.
“I saw them; their health condition is quite normal. They are currently undergoing medical examinations, after which they will meet with their family members,” Avagyan added. He mentioned that their parents learned they were returning home only after their flight.
According to the president’s special representative, criminal charges have complicated the process of returning the soldiers, but the fact that the first group has already arrived in Armenia indicates that the process is advancing.
It is noteworthy that 62 residents of Shirak Province were captured after the statement of November 9. On December 16, 2020, it became known that several military positions located towards Hin Tagher and Khzraberd villages of Hadrut had 62 soldiers captured, all from Shirak Province. Baku claimed they were diversants and launched a criminal case against the Armenian soldiers. Today, five individuals from that group returned.
