Arshak Zakaryan and Participants of the Armenian Assembly Detained Near Government Building
The situation in front of the Government building is tense. Participants of the Armenian Assembly attempted to enter the building but clashed with the police guarding it. A large number of police officers and red berets have gathered near the Government, detaining citizens.
Recently, Arshak Zakaryan, as the organizer of the Armenian Assembly, was also detained. The police state that the citizens did not comply with their legal demands, which led to their detention.
The citizens aimed to enter the Government building, demanding that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan appear and respond to why he is committing actions deemed treasonous. Earlier, they had also requested a meeting with the Armenian Prosecutor General, as there are sufficient grounds for Nikol Pashinyan to be detained at this time.
New police forces are being periodically brought to the Republic Square.
