Bloodshed Ceased, Focus on Aid for Affected Regions: Putin on Nagorno-Karabakh War
Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue during a remote speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos. He stated that the cessation of the war was made possible thanks to Moscow's direct mediation efforts. “At the same time, we sought to adhere to the agreements reached among the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, particularly between Russia, the United States, and France. This format is one of the best examples of international cooperation,” said Putin.
He called on the international community to assist in the rehabilitation efforts in Nagorno-Karabakh and in addressing humanitarian issues. He reminded that in November, a trilateral declaration was reached among Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, which is being implemented consistently.
“It has been possible to stop the bloodshed, which is the most important thing—to achieve a complete cessation of hostilities and to begin a stabilization process. Now, the international community and, of course, the countries involved in the resolution of the conflict are tasked with providing assistance to the affected regions, addressing humanitarian issues related to the return of refugees, restoring the destroyed infrastructure, and preserving and restoring historical, religious, and cultural monuments,” Putin stated.
