Artsakh Can Never Be Part of Azerbaijan, Forget About It: Vahram Poghosyan
“The authorities of Artsakh have broad support from society; therefore, any step or decision made by President Araik Harutyunyan regarding the future of Artsakh is guided by the widespread support of the Artsakh community,” Vahram Poghosyan, spokesperson for the President of Artsakh, said in an interview with “Factinfo,” responding to Araik Harutyunyan’s statement regarding upcoming difficult decisions.
According to some sources, the term 'difficult decisions' refers to the issue of Artsakh’s status, which may be resolved to the detriment of the demands of the Artsakh Armenians—the prospect of becoming part of Azerbaijan.
However, Araik Harutyunyan's spokesman refutes the prevailing rumors in the interview, asserting, “Artsakh can never be part of Azerbaijan, forget about it. When the president mentions difficult decisions, he does not mean anything specific. The issue is that any relations being built with conditional Azerbaijan in the post-war situation already imply difficult decisions, regardless of the nature of such relations,” says Vahram Poghosyan.
It is noteworthy that the previous day, during one of the meetings held in Artsakh, President Araik Harutyunyan discussed the anticipated developments in post-war Artsakh, stating that the trials are not entirely in the past and that there will be a need for making difficult decisions in Artsakh in the future, without specifying what these difficult decisions might entail. The president’s statement sparked various discussions, including the unacceptable hypothesis regarding the status of Artsakh, namely, the transfer of Artsakh under Azerbaijani control.
