Defense Requests Release of 'Alraghatsi Lyovik' on Bail
The defenders of Levon Sargsyan, known as 'Alraghatsi Lyovik', have petitioned to replace the detention measure imposed on him with bail. The defense did not specify the amount of bail, leaving it to the discretion of the court.
As previously reported, the first court hearing in the case of 'Alraghatsi Lyovik' was held today at the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by Judge Tatevik Grigoryan, during which the issue of Sargsyan's detention was discussed. Sargsyan did not appear at the hearing but requested via a motion to change his detention measure.
The prosecuting attorney argued against this, requesting that Sargsyan's detention measure remain unchanged.
Following the hearing, the court, presided over by Judge Tatevik Grigoryan, retired to deliberation to decide on Levon Sargsyan's detention measure. The court's decision is expected to be made public tomorrow at 10:00 AM.
It should be noted that there are two defendants in this criminal case: Levon Sargsyan and Suren Ghazaryan. Only Levon Sargsyan is currently in custody, while Suren Ghazaryan has been subject to a signature not to leave as a preventive measure.
Recall that Levon Sargsyan is accused of ordering a robbery that took place about 12 years ago at the private residence of former Customs Committee head Armen Avetisyan. This robbery occurred in October 2008. At that time, it was reported that Ara Karapetyan, the founder of 'Koshiki Kaghak' LLC, and Armen Nikoghosyan, the former deputy head of the Nor Nork police department, had established a criminal group that was involved in several notorious and particularly serious crimes, including the robbery at the private residence of former Customs Committee head Armen Avetisyan.
In May 2011, a court ruling sentenced 10 members of this criminal organization to lengthy prison terms of up to 15 years.
