Gunfire Targeted Marseille's 'Saint Sahak and Saint Mesrop' Cultural Center

Gunfire has targeted the 'Saint Sahak and Saint Mesrop' Cultural Center in Marseille. The incident occurred on January 24 at 18:40.

“This is one of the most symbolic centers for Armenians. More than 250 children learn here weekly. My anxiety is boundless. I am confident that the French government will ensure the safety of our future activities. We are unbreakable,” said Karen Khurshudyan, president of the 'Abovyan' school, in an interview with 'Hayeren Aysor'.

After the incident, the police visited and examined the scene. The gunfire had broken a window on the second floor, where a piano class was taking place. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

The president of the Cultural Center has filed a complaint with the police regarding the incident. The Cultural Center serves as the coordination headquarters for Armenian organizations.

During the Artsakh war, it coordinated humanitarian aid sent from Marseille and the southern regions to Armenia.

Similar incidents have occurred in Berlin, San Francisco, Paris, and Décines, where vandalism targeted the Komitas statue and the Genocide memorial. The actions were attributed to the 'Grey Wolves', a Turkish ultranationalist group that was dissolved in France.
