Collision Between Salt-Laden KamAZ and Mercedes in Vayots Dzor Region Results in Injury
Today, the Vayots Dzor regional crisis management center received a report about a traffic accident on the Yerevan-Meghri highway at the Malishka-Vayk section. A KamAZ truck and a Mercedes vehicle collided.
An operational group from the Ministry of Emergency Situations' regional rescue department and one firefighting unit responded to the scene. It was determined that at kilometer 132 of the Yerevan-Meghri highway, a KamAZ dump truck owned by 'Sisian BUAT' LLC (driver: M. A., born in 1989) collided with a Mercedes C200 car (driver: N. T., born in 1990).
The driver of the Mercedes C200 was trapped inside the vehicle, while the KamAZ, loaded with 6 tons of salt, veered off the roadway by approximately 8 meters and overturned in the median area.
Before the rescuers arrived at the scene, bystanders had disconnected the power of the Mercedes C200 and turned off the gas valve. Rescuers extracted the trapped victim from the vehicle and handed them over to emergency medical staff. The individual was hospitalized at the Yeghegnadzor medical center, where their condition was assessed as stable.
Special equipment is required to right the KamAZ truck and bring it back onto the roadway.
