The Ministry of Defense Refutes News on Salary Cuts for Employees
The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia has refuted circulating information that it has cut salaries for its employees.
The ministry has issued a statement, which is presented below:
“Various media outlets are spreading disinformation that the Ministry of Defense has reduced its employees' salaries. This information is not true. The Ministry of Defense informs that, in accordance with Article 27, Part 1 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia on 'Salary Payments to Persons Holding State Positions and State Service Positions,' salary payments for system personnel will be made within the established deadlines, no later than the seventh working day of the following month (salaries for January will be paid by February 7). At the same time, it is reported that in January, an advance payment was provided to alleviate the social burden on staff, and the allocations planned for the Ministry of Defense in the 2021 state budget will be made on time and in full.
In other words, the amounts transferred to employees are not a 'reduced' salary, but merely an advance on their salary, and the remaining portion of the salary will be transferred within the deadlines stipulated by law.”
