The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has ordered the Ukrainian authorities to pay €322,000 in compensation based on the claims of 39 participants involved in the "Maidan" actions in Kyiv and other cities during 2013-2014. This was reported by TASS, referring to the ECHR's official website.

"The ECHR unanimously confirmed the presence of numerous violations as stipulated by Article 3 (prohibition of torture or inhuman or degrading treatment), Article 11 (freedom of assembly and association), Article 2 (right to life), as well as Article 8 (right to respect for private and family life) of the European Convention on Human Rights," the statement said.

It was noted that among the 39 applicants, 38 are Ukrainians, and 1 is a citizen of Armenia. All of them participated or had a specific role in the events of "Maidan."

It is worth recalling that on November 21, 2013, just a week before the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, the Ukrainian government announced the suspension of the process of signing the agreement with the European Union. In response, the opposition at the time blocked the work of the Verkhovna Rada, and protesters gathered at Independence Square. A three-month tense confrontation began, known as "Euromaidan."

As a result of the actions, 80 people were killed and hundreds were injured. The Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs has initiated a criminal case regarding the mass murder of civilians, for which former President Viktor Yanukovych and several other officials are still wanted.
