Charges Filed Against Two in Assault Case of Investigator by Son-in-Law of MP Hayk Sargsyan

The investigator involved in an incident with Arthur Shatvoryan, the deputy head of the State Food Safety Service and son-in-law of MP Hayk Sargsyan, has been recognized as a victim, with charges filed against two individuals.

Rima Yeghanyan, head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee, told "Factinfo" that charges have been brought against two individuals in connection with a criminal case investigating an incident that occurred on December 15, 2020, on Saralanj Street. They were charged under the first part of the third section of Article 258 of the RA Criminal Code for committing hooliganism by a group of individuals, which involved violence against a person. The investigator has been recognized as a victim, and the investigation is ongoing.

It is worth noting that on the evening of December 15, Shatvoryan, who is also famously known as the “bottle taker” and is the son-in-law of MP Hayk Sargsyan, assaulted an investigator from the Special Investigation Service for failing to yield the road. Specifically, the investigator attempted to remove a vehicle from the roadway due to its malfunction, which displeased Shatvoryan, prompting him to exert violence against the investigator.

According to circulating reports, approximately 10 individuals in military uniforms and armed arrived in 2 vehicles, claiming to have come down from positions. The police had initiated a criminal case based on Article 258 of the RA Criminal Code for hooliganism, which was sent to the Investigative Committee for further investigation. Moreover, during the incident, Shatvoryan was considered summoned for service, but was actually cruising around Yerevan accompanied by others.

The investigative body has not specified who the accused are or what status the notorious bottle taker's son-in-law has in relation to the incident.
