Araik Harutyunyan Invites Consultation on Drinking and Irrigation Water Management Issues
The President of the Republic of Artsakh, Araik Harutyunyan, held a working consultation on January 15 regarding the management of drinking and irrigation water issues and reform programs, as reported by the President's Office of Artsakh.
The head of state emphasized that restoring the normal life of the Republic is one of the Government's top priorities, and it is essential to eliminate the consequences of the war with quick and effective solutions.
Araik Harutyunyan noted that several infrastructure facilities were damaged as a result of the war and partially came under Azerbaijani control; therefore, it is necessary to revise certain water supply programs and networks.
In this context, the President instructed the heads of relevant departments to develop new programs aimed at renovating existing infrastructures, constructing new pipelines and irrigation systems, and enhancing the technical equipment of the sector in the shortest possible timeframe, while involving both budgetary and extra-budgetary resources.
The President stressed that effective efforts will be made to ensure round-the-clock water supply in all communities over the next three years.
Referring to the tariff policy, Araik Harutyunyan reminded that the state will continue to compensate citizens for utility payments, including for water supply services, for a period of one year, within certain volumes.
The President issued a series of instructions to state authorities for the swift organization of restoration works on water infrastructure and the clarification of future programs.
