There Are Armenian Prisoners in Azerbaijan Who Have Been Stolen from Their Families: Mkhitaryan to La Repubblica

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the captain of the Armenian national football team and midfielder for Italian club Roma, discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh war and Armenian prisoners in Azerbaijan in an interview with La Repubblica.

“The war in Artsakh has been ongoing for 30 years, yet many countries prefer to ignore this conflict. It is unbelievable that such a thing is happening in the 21st century. It is painful that there are Armenian prisoners in Azerbaijan who have been stolen from their families. During the war, I appealed to the whole world. It was important that our voice be heard. I am grateful to the Italian government for their support. I also thank everyone who has recognized the independence of Artsakh.

The humanitarian aid sent to Armenia by Roma was a wonderful initiative. The club saw the pain of the people and decided to help. I will never forget what Roma has done,” said Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
