Monitoring Group Deployed to Vanadzor Forest Enterprise
The Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan announced on Facebook that, following his special instruction, a monitoring group consisting of employees from the Forest Committee and the Hayantar SNCO has been dispatched to the Vanadzor Forest Enterprise for additional investigations.
“The results will be reported shortly,” the minister informed.
Earlier, the Hayantar SNCO addressed a post made on January 12 this year by the initiative 'House of the Environmentalist' on social media related to reported tree cuttings in the area stretching from Lermontovo village to Vanadzor city.
The SNCO stated that based on a tree cutting ticket number 01728 from the Khndzorut forest management of the Vanadzor Forest Enterprise, a sanitary cut site had been exploited since October 8, 2020. “In that cutting area, due to heavy snow and strong winds in the spring of 2020, more than 314 ordinary pine trees were damaged in square meters 2, 3, 4, 12, 20, and 140 (photos are attached). Based on the decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia dated June 22, 2006, on the 'Procedure for Carrying Out Care and Sanitary Cuts,' the accounting of trees was conducted in these cutting areas. The cutting area was approved on October 1, 2020, and a tree cutting ticket was compiled. Additionally, the monitoring group from the Forest Committee and the Hayantar SNCO has been sent to the Vanadzor Forest Enterprise to conduct further investigations, and the results will be reported shortly,” the Hayantar SNCO stated in their Facebook post.
