In the Foreseeable Future, It Is Impossible to Establish Friendly Relations with Azerbaijanis: Artak Beglaryan
In the foreseeable future, it is impossible to establish friendly relations with Azerbaijanis because the Azerbaijani society has been systematically injected with anti-Armenian sentiments through deliberate organization for decades. This was stated by Artak Beglaryan, head of the Artsakh Presidential Administration, during a Facebook live stream, addressing the question of whether it is possible to have friendly relations and live peacefully with Azerbaijanis.
He noted that the numerous crimes committed during the war and several information diversions were reflections of this reality. “To this day, we see that these anti-Armenian sentiments are frequently expressed by Azerbaijani authorities, even reaching the president. The fact that their entire society welcomes crimes and torture is already an indicator that the Azerbaijani society is not ready for friendly relations with Armenians,” he said.
Beglaryan emphasized, “We all understand that if we live in proximity in the same region, it is rationally beneficial for the people of both states to have friendly relations. However, I sincerely believe that the Azerbaijani society is not ready for this, and a considerable amount of time must pass for it to happen, even if there is political will and they make genuine efforts to somewhat emerge from these anti-Armenian sentiments within society. Perhaps it might be possible to have certain relations and interactions in the not too distant future, but it is not something I expect in the foreseeable future,” he stressed.
