Gegham Gevorgyan Decides to Appeal Court Decision to Terminate His Powers
Gegham Gevorgyan has decided to appeal the decision of the Yerevan City Court that terminated his powers as Acting Rector of Yerevan State University. Gevorgyan made this statement in an interview with Armenpress. “I will appeal,” he noted.
To the question of when he plans to file the appeal, Gevorgyan responded, 'Whenever I want.' It is important to recall that the court made the decision to terminate Gevorgyan's powers as Acting Rector on December 17, 2020, and he can appeal within one month at the latest.
A lawsuit had been filed against Gevorgyan by Karen Hekimyan, the chief specialist of the university's Public Relations Department, noting that prior to becoming the Acting Rector, Gevorgyan held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Board of Evoca Bank, and the law on 'Foundations' prohibits the combination of the rector's post with any other paid position.
Gevorgyan was appointed as the temporary Acting Rector of Yerevan State University on May 30, 2019.
