Displaced Residents of Artsakh Make Use of Free Medical Services in Armenia

Due to the military operations of the 44-day Artsakh war, individuals affected and displaced from their homes in Artsakh are utilizing free and preferential healthcare services guaranteed by the state in medical institutions across the Republic of Armenia. This was reported by Liana Barseghyan, head of the Hospital Medical Assistance Policy Department of the Ministry of Health of Armenia, in an interview with Armenpress.

In accordance with the amendments to the Government decision of the Republic of Armenia from 2004, free healthcare services also include outpatient services. In Armenia, displaced individuals from Artsakh can register at their preferred outpatient polyclinic and, under the supervision of a family doctor, access all outpatient services, including difficult-to-obtain diagnostic tests.

Exclusively free hospital services also include those provided using advanced and expensive technologies, cardiac and gallbladder surgeries, neurosurgery, and ophthalmology, among others. Moreover, free services encompass both surgical and post-operative recovery and nursing care.

According to the relevant decision of the Government of Armenia, the regulations for services provided using advanced expensive technologies have been established, listing the available services. Services outside that scope are provided on a paid basis. Displaced residents of Artsakh can apply for free medical services at any healthcare institution that has the appropriate state order.
