Turkey to Start COVID-19 Vaccinations

Turkey will begin COVID-19 vaccinations starting Thursday or Friday. This was announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who added that Ankara will gradually lift restrictions as daily infections decrease, according to Reuters.

Turkey has procured 50 million doses of the Chinese Sinovac CoronaVac vaccine. The country also intends to purchase 4.5 million doses of a vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, with the possibility of acquiring an additional 30 million doses.

Erdoğan stated that the vaccination process will commence either on Thursday or Friday in accordance with the vaccination program set by the government.
