A sad picture emerges when representatives of the ruling party, which forms the parliamentary majority, admit that they are nothing without their leader, as a political entity. This was noted by Azerbaijan expert Angela Elibekova on her Facebook page.

She specifically mentioned, “It’s sad because it reflects not only an archaic, primitive cult of personality but also because many of my acquaintances, who were expecting democratic changes, have gone and voted for this party in the parliamentary elections, effectively choosing a new Communist Party.”
