Turkey and the United Kingdom Sign Free Trade Agreement
Turkey and the United Kingdom have signed a free trade agreement just days before the UK officially leaves the European Union, Reuters reports.
Trade ministers from both countries signed the agreement during a video conference. Turkey's Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan stated that it will come into effect on January 1, 2021, ensuring a seamless transition after the end of the current deal at the year’s end.
Earlier, the UK's Department for International Trade announced that the agreement confirms existing trade conditions. In 2019, trade between the two countries reached $25.25 billion.
