Georgi Gakharia Reappointed as Prime Minister of Georgia
The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, has signed a decree to appoint Georgi Gakharia as the Prime Minister of Georgia, according to TASS.
Earlier, the Parliament of Georgia approved Gakharia's reappointment as Prime Minister, as well as the proposed composition and program of the government. David Zalkaliani has been reappointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vakhang Gomelauri is appointed as the Minister of Internal Affairs, and Irakli Garibashvili is the Minister of Defense.
The ruling party, "Georgian Dream," received 90 out of 150 parliamentary mandates in the parliamentary elections held on October 31. Following the confirmation of the election results, the Georgian government resigned its powers.
As a candidate for Prime Minister, Gakharia presented the renewed composition of the government and the governmental program for parliamentary approval. All former ministers have been included in the new government, except for the Minister of Justice.
