The spokesperson for the Minister of Health, Alina Nikoghosyan, confirmed the news of the pregnant woman's death from coronavirus in an interview with the news outlet. “Unfortunately, we experienced a maternal mortality case yesterday. The 40-year-old woman had contracted a coronavirus infection, pneumonia, and a number of accompanying chronic illnesses. Due to progressing respiratory failure, she was transferred to the intensive care unit on December 2. During this time, the Ministry of Health organized multiple consultations involving leading specialists from across the country, however, despite comprehensive treatment measures, the patient’s condition continued to deteriorate. On December 11, the death of the fetus was recorded, and a cesarean delivery was performed as a life-saving measure. During this procedure, heart rhythm disturbance and circulatory failure were noted, resuscitation measures were implemented, and the patient was connected to a lung ventilator. On December 13, her condition sharply worsened, and despite extensive resuscitation efforts, biological death was recorded,” said Nikoghosyan.
