If Former Borders Are Not Restored, Authorities of Artsakh Will Be Obligated to Take Measures
The factions of the National Assembly of Artsakh have issued a statement. “In the wake of the autumn 2020 war unleashed by Azerbaijan against the Republic of Artsakh with the involvement of international terrorists and the blatant participation of Turkey, actions clearly violating the fragile peace were recorded just a month after the signing of the trilateral statement on November 9. On December 11 and 12 of this year, the armed forces of Azerbaijan conducted overt offensive operations towards the villages of Hin Tagher and Khtsaberd in the Hadrut region and the renowned Christian Khtaberd Monastery, resulting in injuries, while the adversary also reports losses in personnel.
All factions of the Artsakh Parliament firmly condemn the gross violations of the provisions of the trilateral statement and urge the three parties that signed the statement to take measures to quickly rectify the situation. They inform that if the former borders are not restored, the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh will be obligated to utilize all possible means to organize the self-defense of the people.
We draw the attention of the parties involved in the statement and the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group to the fact that amidst the recorded and ongoing tensions, there is an urgent need to continue efforts towards a comprehensive resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the main point of which should be the international recognition of the Republic of Artsakh as a precondition for ensuring the inalienable right of the people living in this territory to live.
The factions also condemn the steps taken by the Azerbaijani military-political leadership aimed at undermining the effectiveness of the operations of the peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation and call on the leadership of the mission to provide a relevant assessment of the recorded incidents and to fully ensure all conditions stemming from the first point of the published statement.”
