Edmon Marukyan Discusses the Urgent Security Council Meeting Convened by the Prime Minister
The urgent meeting of the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia, convened by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, has concluded. The situation in Artsakh since December 12 was discussed. This was reported by Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the 'Enlightened Armenia' faction in the National Assembly, as he spoke to reporters after the meeting.
“We discussed what happened yesterday and what actions are currently being taken, focusing on security challenges,” he stated.
Marukyan also announced that based on the discussions, the Armenian government is in possession of all the information. “We all know that an attack has occurred. During the attack, our Armed Forces units engaged in combat, and there are casualties, the situation regarding fatalities is being clarified at this moment. Last night, we were informed that Russian peacekeepers have arrived and are already present in the area. This means that if the peacekeepers were not effectively there before, they will be now,” Marukyan said.
He also mentioned that there is information indicating that the Armenian side 'specifically fought' for the territories, and that not only Azerbaijani special forces but also Turkish forces participated in the operations on the opposing side.
According to him, negotiations between the Russian and Azerbaijani sides are still ongoing, as the trilateral agreement has been violated.
