Powerful 'Message' Directed at Iran: Saudi Fighters Escort US B-52 Bombers in the Middle East
The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Defense has announced that Saudi fighter jets accompanied B-52 American bombers passing through the kingdom's airspace, as reported by Al Masdar News. This move is seen as a powerful 'message' to Tehran amid ongoing regional tensions with Iran.
The official Ministry of Defense account on Twitter published a video of the Saudi fighter jets' flight, confirming that two U.S. Air Force strategic bombers have arrived in the Middle East from an American military base.
The U.S. Central Command confirmed in a statement that the two bombers have flown over their area of responsibility accompanied by aircraft from 'regional partners' over the past two months.
In relation to this, The New York Times quoted Pentagon officials stating that the two bombers, capable of carrying nuclear bombs, left Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana on Thursday and conducted operations in the Middle East before returning to base.
Sources claimed that 'the mission lasted 36 hours, during which the two bombers crossed the Atlantic Ocean and Europe, then traversed the Arabian Peninsula and the Persian Gulf, where they circled near Qatar while maintaining a safe distance from Iranian shores.'
Official sources stated that 'the mission was a clear message to Iran to refrain from any aggressive actions against the U.S. and coalition forces in the region.'
