I join my colleagues' decision to suspend service in the police and present my report: Police Major

Following the call of my conscientious inner voice, I join my colleagues' decision to suspend service in the police and present my own report, wrote David Martirosyan, head of the criminal investigation division of the Kapan Police Department, police major, and participant in the Second Artsakh War on his Facebook page.

“Of course, it’s a difficult decision, but it’s not a decision just for me; this decision is for all of us, for our state. Can opportunism, chair fights, a thirst for power, materialism truly overshadow love and duty toward our own people and homeland? How can any interest be more significant than a soldier's oath and dignity? I am honored—this very responsible word has driven me and my friends to the front lines; we fought not for ourselves, but for all of us, not for personal gain, money, or position, but for freedom and dignity. But what happened, happened... I am a patriot, I am pro-state, and I cannot tolerate or accept this reality.

Dear colleagues, ladies and gentlemen of the police, think carefully about what our title is, what our purpose is, what is primary, and what is secondary. You are right—the state interest is paramount, and therefore I am also leaving our ranks, as I can no longer serve that interest, and any other interest in such a situation means nothing to me. I express my condolences to the fallen colleagues and all the families of the Heroes; I bow to you. May God grant light to your souls and protect our state and people,” wrote Martirosyan.
