Surens Papikyan Introduces New Governor of Syunik to Regional Administration

The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Suren Papikyan, presented the newly appointed governor of Syunik, Melikset Poghosyan, to the regional administration and local government leaders today.

In his speech, the minister emphasized the strategic importance of Syunik province and the significance of its geographical position, stating, “Today, more than ever, it is crucial for the leadership of the region to be taken on by a person with military experience, who has personally participated in strengthening our borders and understands the imperatives of our time. By taking on such responsibility at this difficult moment, Mr. Poghosyan is providing an immense service to our state.”

Minister Papikyan wished the new governor and the regional administration effective cooperation. He also expressed gratitude to the former governor of Syunik, Hunan Poghosyan, for approximately two years of leadership, while highlighting the decisive role of local communities in Syunik in ensuring the stability of the rear in recent months.

In turn, Melikset Poghosyan thanked him for the trust and noted that ensuring the defense of Syunik from Meghri to Gorayk is extremely important, and he will do everything possible to achieve this.

Hunan Poghosyan congratulated the new governor of Syunik and thanked Minister Papikyan and the attendees for their collaborative efforts.
