US Imposes Sanctions on Turkey Over S-400 Purchase

The United States is prepared to impose sanctions on Turkey related to its acquisition of Russian S-400 air defense systems. This information has been reported by Reuters, citing four sources, including two U.S. officials familiar with the matter.

The sources indicated that the long-awaited measure, which is likely to infuriate Ankara and complicate relations with the newly elected President Joe Biden's administration, could be announced any day now. According to them, the sanctions will target Ismail Demir, head of Turkey's Defense Industry Directorate.
