Three Prisoners and the Body of an Elderly Person Transferred to Armenia, Says Artsakh Ombudsman
With the mediation of the Russian peacekeepers, alongside the three prisoners transferred from Azerbaijan to Armenia, the body of an elderly individual who died under still unknown circumstances in Azerbaijani captivity has also been handed over to the Armenian side. This was stated by Artsakh Ombudsman Artak Beglaryan on his Facebook page.
“Today, three elderly civilians were transferred from Azerbaijan to Armenia with the mediation of the Russian peacekeepers. They had remained in their homes during the Azerbaijani incursion. They were handed over to the Armenian side on a priority basis due to serious health issues. Alongside them, the body of another elderly individual, who died in Azerbaijani captivity under still unknown circumstances, was also transferred to the Armenian side. The relatives of the mentioned individuals have already been properly informed about their return,” he noted.
“We are coordinating with the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, our work aimed at the protection of human rights. As part of this effort, we will conduct appropriate actions to clarify the circumstances regarding the rights of the returned individuals. We are also continuing our joint efforts to gather and analyze data concerning prisoners and missing persons and support relevant state authorities as much as possible, as well as raising issues in various international organizations,” he added.
