The State Takes on the Rehabilitation Treatment Costs for Those Who Participated in the Defense of the Homeland
At today's regular government meeting, Health Minister Arsen Torosyan announced that changes are being made to the funding of one of the budgetary programs.
“Earlier this year, we had already implemented a similar approach, changing the financing mechanism for providing medical services to military personnel, rescue workers, and their family members to an open contract system, ensuring that the annual budgets of medical institutions were not limited. Of course, all of this was done based on calculations to prevent a deficit at the end of the year,” he stated, noting that however, the necessary rehabilitative treatment for soldiers injured in combat was absent from this program.
“With this change, we now propose to transfer these services to the open contracting system, so that there are no issues with refusals and limitations. In other words, any medical institution that has the capacity to provide these services, with the appropriate accredited license, will be able to offer these services without encountering issues of waiting lists or refusals,” the minister emphasized.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan added that thus, the state takes on the rehabilitation treatment costs for those who participated in the defense of the homeland. “Moreover, the state assumes these costs without linking the service to any specific medical institution. In other words, we tell citizens who need rehabilitative treatment that they can choose where they want to receive that treatment, and the government will pay for it,” Pashinyan stated.
