Turkey Has Already Started Actively Circulating Plans to Occupy All of Southern Armenia
Turkey's TGRT Haber television channel has reported on how the "transfer of Zangezur" should occur. Aliyev stated that Armenia is obliged to compensate for the "devastations" carried out in Nagorno-Karabakh and demanded $50 billion. Turkish television host Ekrem Acıkalın remarked that since "the Armenian treasury is empty, it cannot pay that amount, so it must hand over Zangezur instead."
This hostile viewpoint has been actively circulated in Azerbaijani-Turkish political and social circles for weeks. The president of the Turkey-Azerbaijan Brotherhood, Cooperation and Solidarity Foundation, Aygün Attar, has dedicated a series of tweets to the thesis of Zangezur "allegedly belonging to Azerbaijan," which, compared to Acıkalın's statement, is a more "mild" assertion that includes the village of Nrnjazhor in Syunik and other settlements. Similar opinions are being spread across the internet, even discussing the occupation of Yerevan.
