The Church Also Has a Voice and Responsibility Regarding Societal Issues, Says Catholicos Aram I

Alongside spiritual and moral questions, the Church also has a voice and responsibility concerning the fundamental issues affecting society. This is stated in a declaration by His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia.

"Alongside spiritual and moral issues, the Church has a say and an action regarding fundamental questions affecting society. This has been the case and should remain so, especially for the Armenian Church, which has a national character and mission. Regarding issues related to Armenia and Artsakh, and those of pan-Armenian significance, from corruption to emigration and the recent war in Artsakh, we, as the Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia, have clearly expressed our concerns and perspectives, as well as proposed solutions both in Antelias and in Yerevan. This is the true calling of our Church, which is dedicated to serving the people and the homeland through its mission of faith," he stated.
