Foreign Minister Ara Aivazyan's Meeting in the French National Assembly
On December 9, Foreign Minister Ara Aivazyan met with Françoise Dumas, the chair of the National Defense and Armed Forces Committee of the French National Assembly, with the participation of members of the France-Armenia Friendship Group of the National Assembly.
The interlocutors emphasized the friendly and privileged nature of Armenian-French relations, rooted in deep-seated traditions and shared values.
The meeting extensively addressed the situation in the region resulting from the Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression against Artsakh and the measures needed to overcome its consequences. Minister Aivazyan highly appreciated the resolution adopted by the French National Assembly days earlier, viewing it as a significant milestone in recognizing the right to self-determination of the people of Artsakh and in the process of achieving a fair resolution to the Artsakh issue.
Referring to the Azerbaijani aggression against the people of Artsakh, conducted with the direct involvement of Turkey and foreign militant terrorists, Minister Aivazyan commended the solidarity shown by France and the French people towards Artsakh and the Armenian people since the first days of the conflict.
In addressing the urgency of tackling the humanitarian disaster in Artsakh, Minister Aivazyan emphasized the need to create conditions for the displaced Artsakh Armenians to return to their places of residence and to restore and protect the rights and interests of the Artsakh Armenian community. Both sides also underscored the importance of preserving the historical, cultural, and religious heritage in areas under Azerbaijani control.
