Garik Sargsyan Resigns, Will Move to Yerevan

According to information received by Yerevan.Today, Ararat regional governor Garik Sargsyan submitted his resignation today. This move, according to sources, is in the context of cosmetic changes within the government. Garik Sargsyan will be relocating to Yerevan, more specifically, to the Ministry of Territorial Administration.

The name of Garik Sargsyan's successor has also been revealed. He is Sedrak Tevonyan's father, the MP from the 'My Step' faction, known for being a brandy producer — Razmik Tevonyan. During the 1990s, he operated under the protection of the late defense minister Vazgen Sargsyan and managed to become a factory owner with his support. Furthermore, during the tenure of the Republican Party of Armenia, Mr. Tevonyan built strong relations with then-Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan.

It is symbolic that Nikol Pashinyan is making these personnel changes at a time when the opposition has been addressing him in ultimatum language.

The government did not respond to Yerevan.Today's inquiries, while Razmik Tevonyan did not deny the news regarding his appointment in a conversation with Yerevan.Today. Initially, he hesitated, saying, 'I don't know what will happen now,' followed by, 'I'm busy, I can't talk.'

Incidentally, Razmik Tevonyan has already held meetings with power circles regarding his appointment. It is evident that accepting proposals from the government is quite difficult due to the widespread dissatisfaction and the imminent resignation of the government led by the Prime Minister.
