The Prime Minister Sees No Difference in Who Performs the Liturgy
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan participated in a liturgy at the courtyard of the Holy Savior Church in Gyumri not only as a prime minister but also as a Christian. According to the Prime Minister's press secretary, Mane Gevorgyan, there is no difference for the head of government in who performs the liturgy.
“Moreover, the memorial service was primarily in memory of those who lost their lives 32 years ago. While refraining from any assessment, the statements and actions of Bishop Mikael only raise questions. I believe the people of Gyumri will judge those statements themselves,” she stated.
As previously reported, today at the Holy Savior Church's courtyard, the solemn ceremony dedicated to the innocent victims of the earthquake was not conducted by Bishop Mikael; another cleric replaced him. The Archbishop of Shirak had noted in a conversation with “Hraparak” that, “He is not my prime minister for me to conduct a memorial service before him.”
