Video: Syunik Residents Hold the Retreated Border

27 years ago, Robert, who liberated Kubatlu, is celebrating his 40th birthday in the newly dug trenches in front of Kubatlu, on the retreated border as a result of this war (photo report).

Robert and his comrades went to the front lines with the same commander at the start of this war to hold the border they had drawn years ago, but this time they had to retreat to their homeland, near David Bek.

“The commander wanted the positions to be dug right in front of Kubatlu; it was only 700 meters above us, and we couldn’t do it,” Robert tells NEWS.am.

The soldiers who won the war refuse to accept defeat and hope that if not now, they will receive orders in the future to retake Kubatlu. Young men who enlisted have also joined Robert.

“We are always ready for battle. If necessary, we will go forward; we will defend our lands. Syunik has always been strong; they cannot invade, come, and reach our families,” says Davit from Kapan.

“I urge our Armenian people to come and help us hold the border, to protect Armenia, and if necessary, we need to move forward,” adds his brave companion Mher from Kachar.

There is no replacement for much of the personnel, but the Syunik resident will not leave his family, who are supporting him from behind, unprotected, as the border is at a dangerous distance from their homes.

“Today, the front line of Jabrail is here, Khndzoresk is here, Kornidzor is here, and the village of Tegh is here. The border of Jabrail reached here,” says Commander Martirosyan.

“People, Martirosyan, do not understand the importance of Jabrail; we understood it with difficulty,” responds Hakob, a Davit Bek resident who fought in both wars.
