We Are Trying to Convince Berdzor Residents Not to Leave the City, Says Kashatagh Regional Administration Head

Berdzor will remain under our control; at this moment, we are trying to convince the citizens not to leave the city. This was stated by the acting head of the Kashatagh regional administration, Mushegh Alaverdyan, in an interview with NEWS.am.

When asked whether the information is reliable, as contradictory news has been circulating lately, Alaverdyan confirmed that his information is credible but could not disclose the source of the information.

Regarding what security guarantees exist for Armenian residents if they stay, Alaverdyan responded that there are guarantees but could not provide details as he was in a hurry.

It is worth noting that the number of residents in Berdzor is around 2,200. These days, they are in a state of uncertainty, with some leaving and others waiting for final information. Earlier, the advisor to the President of the Republic of Artsakh, Davit Babayan, stated that the city of Berdzor will remain part of Artsakh.

Hetq.am also spoke with members of the ruling majority, who said they were not aware of what to expect for the Berdzor community in the Kashatagh region of the Republic of Artsakh. Narek Mkrtchyan from the My Step faction mentioned that he does not have information about the details but knows that the government is working on this issue.

According to Mkrtchyan, the President of Artsakh is in close negotiations with the commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces, Rustam Muradov, and these matters are also on the agenda.
