Seven Villages in Tavush to be Handed Over to Azerbaijan, Says Prominent Azerbaijani Journalist Ibrahim Nebioglu

A prominent Azerbaijani journalist, Ibrahim Nebioglu, a member of the country's Journalists Union and an experienced diplomat with years of representation in Turkey, writes that according to the agreement signed on November 10, seven villages in the Kazakh region, which are border villages in Tavush, are to be handed over to Azerbaijan. This was reported by Yerkir.am.

According to him, the second point of the trilateral statement stipulates that Azerbaijan should also receive the seven Kazakh villages that were occupied by Armenia (a similar point existed in the draft version of the statement).

“Recently, my relatives and friends in Kazakh, whom I trust, informed me that Azerbaijani troops are moving towards the occupied territories. This information has been confirmed once. It is not difficult to assume how the Armenians from the occupied villages will grieve. Those were my assumptions,” the journalist writes.

He points out that the villages of Sofulu, Barkhudarli, Baghanis Ayrum, Gyzylhajili, Verin Voskepar, Nerkhin Voskepar, and Kheyrimly will be surrendered.

“We did not present an ultimatum to the Armenians to leave their lands. However, four days ago (the article was published on November 26), representatives from the Armenian region arrived in those villages and said that the residents, who are ‘sitting on a pin’, have been given 10 days to evacuate. Of course, this demand has been met with dissatisfaction and anger from the Armenians,” Nebioglu writes.

Nebioglu assures that after resolving the issues regarding Karabakh, the case will reach the Tovuz region and the villages of Sadaray Kerki in Nakhchivan (Tigranashen).

He mentions that he was expecting official confirmation regarding this information but has not received any.

“The three villages to be handed over are enclaves of Azerbaijan in Armenia: Sofulu, Barkhudarli, and Yukhari Askipara (Verin Voskepar),” he states.

It should be noted that there has been no official information from Armenia regarding the handover of villages in the Tavush region to the enemy as of yet, and the mentioned information still needs to be confirmed by official sources, considering that after signing the statement, there has been active circulation about the handover of Tavush villages.
