European Parliament Adopts Resolution Calling for Harsh Sanctions Against Turkey

The European Parliament has adopted a resolution calling on European Union member countries to impose harsh sanctions against Turkey due to its actions in the Mediterranean Sea.

According to TASS, the vote on the resolution took place on Thursday during a plenary session of the European Parliament in Brussels. A total of 631 members voted in favor of the resolution, while only 3 voted against it.

“Members of the European Parliament urge the European Council to maintain a united stance on Turkey's illegal actions and, in response, to impose strict sanctions,” the document states.

The resolution also mentions that “relations between the EU and Turkey are at a historic low due to its actions concerning Greece, Cyprus, Syria, and Nagorno-Karabakh.”
