What Key Points Does the French Senate Resolution on Recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh Include?

Moments ago, the Senate of the French Republic made a historic decision by adopting a resolution on the "Need for Recognition of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh," presented by five political groups within the Senate.

The resolution includes the following key points: it proposes that the government recognize the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, condemns the aggression carried out by Azerbaijan with the support of Turkey and foreign mercenaries, and demands the withdrawal of Azerbaijani forces from territories occupied since the hostilities that began on September 27.

Furthermore, it calls on the government to exert all possible efforts to resume the negotiation process within the framework of the Minsk Group co-chairmanship, which will ensure the restoration of the borders established in 1994, the security of the Armenian population, and the return of displaced persons, as well as protect Armenian cultural and religious heritage.

The resolution also references the Armenian massacres in Sumgait, Ganja, Baku, and Maragha committed by Azerbaijani authorities and cites reports concerning Azerbaijan from the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) and the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD), noting the impossibility of the Armenian population living in Azerbaijan.
