Recognition of Artsakh's Independence Can Only Be Granted by the French Government: Naira Zohrabyan

I welcome the decision of the French Senate, but I want us to be realistic: Now, because our public is naturally unaware of the procedures, euphoric statements are already being spread that France has recognized the independence of Artsakh. That is not the case. This was stated by Naira Zohrabyan, a member of the 'Prosperous Armenia' faction in the National Assembly, in an interview with Tert.am.

'The upper house of parliament, the Senate, has adopted a resolution calling on the Government of the French Republic to recognize Artsakh. The recognition of Artsakh is exclusively within the jurisdiction of the French executive body—the Government. While I consider the Senate's appeal to the Government very important, I do not want this to be another euphoric, pathos-filled statement like those from the ‘Ardzruni-Hovhannisyan’ era,' said the parliamentarian, emphasizing that only and exclusively the French government can recognize the independence of Artsakh.

'It would be fair and just for the French Government to recognize the Republic of Artsakh; I would wholeheartedly welcome that. But until then, let us await the decision of the French government,' she noted.

In response to the observation that Nikol Pashinyan had made a statement indicating that the decision made by the French Senate is historical, Zohrabyan reacted by saying, 'Just as Pashinyan came to power through lies and deceit, he continues to mislead society, manipulate, and keep it in a state of false pathos and emotionality with his political tactics.'
