Grenoble-Alps Metropolis Council Calls on France to Recognize the Republic of Artsakh
On November 20, the Grenoble-Alps Metropolis Council adopted a resolution calling on the French government to recognize the Republic of Artsakh. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh.
The resolution states, in particular:
During a time when the world is facing an unprecedented healthcare, economic, and social crisis, we have witnessed the 43-day war waged by the Azerbaijani-Turkish alliance against Artsakh's servicemen and peaceful civilians, marked by the use of prohibited weapons, particularly cluster munitions, drones, and phosphorus bombs, starting from September 27 and culminating with the ceasefire agreement of November 10, 2020. Unfortunately, this ceasefire agreement does not resolve the issue of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The friendship between the Metropolis and the Armenians of France has a long history (humanitarian aid, cooperation, support to cultural communities). Furthermore, our organization has always upheld the values of assistance and the protection of human rights.
To forever protect the remaining territories of Artsakh from Azerbaijan’s new territorial ambitions and to respond to the spirit of support demonstrated in our region and across France, the Metropolis Council requests that the government recognizes the Republic of Artsakh as a guarantor of the security of its population and of regional and global stability.
