Yerevan City Hall to Provide Firewood to Socially Vulnerable Families

During the third session of the fifth convocation of the Yerevan Council, a decision was made to provide firewood free of charge to socially vulnerable families, derived from the pruning of community-owned trees and the removal of dried trees.

According to Armenpress, the project was presented by Gevorg Nazaryan, head of the environmental protection department of the Yerevan City Hall, during the session. He stated, "As a result of the pruning and removal of dried trees in Yerevan, approximately 500 cubic meters of wood has accumulated. The project aims to provide this accumulated firewood to socially vulnerable families as a means of alleviating social issues as much as possible. It is also planned that the list of these families, the criteria, the amount of firewood to be allocated, and the distribution process will be determined by a decision of the Mayor of Yerevan."

Levon Hovhannisyan, the chairman of the permanent committee on financial and economic issues, remarked that they have given a positive conclusion on the project.

The decision was adopted unanimously, with 40 votes in favor.
