Russian Sappers Clear Mines in Peacekeeping Zones
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reports that Russian soldiers continue to carry out mine clearance operations in the areas under the responsibility of peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh.
According to the message, "Russian engineering units are involved in the engineering reconnaissance and demining of routes between peacekeeping observation posts and community roads." The mining work is ongoing in the vicinity of residential areas and their social infrastructure facilities.
Identified military munitions and explosive devices are transported to a firing range where they are destroyed. Any munitions that cannot be transported are destroyed on-site.
“One of the phases of survey work for identifying explosive devices is the examination of positions where stationary observation posts will be built for the deployment of Russian peacekeepers,” states the Russian Ministry of Defense, adding that the servicemen involved in mine clearance are equipped with modern protective suits for sappers and are armed with advanced means for locating explosive devices.
