France to Provide Mobile Medical Unit, Humanitarian Supplies, and Funding to Artsakh

The French Ambassador to Armenia, Jonathan Lacôte, shared a photograph of Mount Ararat from the "Zvartnots" Airport on his Facebook page, accompanied by a statement: "Armenia. France is investing in a structural system to support the Armenian population affected by the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. At the request of the President of the Republic and the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, France is coordinating efforts to assist the Armenian population affected by the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

This initiative, coordinated by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs' Crisis and Support Center, mobilizes the state, solidarity associations working with Armenia, humanitarian organizations united through 'Coordination Sud,' business foundations, and hospitals. It is based on three axes:

  1. Following the initial emergency operations carried out in recent weeks, which involved sending surgeons and medical-surgical equipment to Armenia, numerous humanitarian flights are being organized. The first cargo flight, chartered by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, arrived in Yerevan today (Sunday) at noon. It carries emergency medical equipment, specifically a mobile medical unit capable of serving 500 people, as well as blankets and hygiene kits that will be distributed to those affected by the conflict.
  2. The second aircraft is already scheduled for November 27, which will consolidate state resources, donations organized by solidarity associations collaborating with Armenia, particularly the Aznavour Foundation and the Armenian General Benevolent Union, as well as humanitarian supplies from humanitarian organizations and business foundations.
  3. The third axis aims to support programs carried out in Armenia by humanitarian organizations or UN agencies. France will provide direct financial support to these entities operating on the ground.

Ultimately, local self-governing bodies, some of which are already actively supporting projects being implemented in Armenia, have been invited to contribute to these three axes of the system. This mobilized humanitarian assistance system responds to the emergency situation that has arisen from the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in recent weeks. France, as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, remains fully mobilized, along with Russia and the USA, to reach a lasting resolution to this conflict," the ambassador wrote.
