Ara Aivazyan Holds Phone Conversation with US Deputy Secretary of State Discussing Artsakh Issue

The U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun had a phone conversation today with Armenia's Foreign Minister Ara Aivazyan. This was reported by the press service of the U.S. State Department.

"Deputy Secretary Biegun welcomed Aivazyan's appointment as Foreign Minister and expressed hope for further close cooperation between the U.S. and Armenia. They discussed issues related to U.S. humanitarian assistance to the region and ongoing efforts concerning negotiations aimed at a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," the State Department's statement said.

It is noteworthy that on November 10, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a trilateral statement, according to which Azerbaijan regained control over seven districts of Artsakh, as well as Shushi and Hadrut, with the exception of one village from the Askeran and Martuni districts, and the Talish and Mataghis villages from the Martakert district.

According to this statement, the Russian Federation's peacekeeping forces, comprising 1,960 armed personnel, 90 armored vehicles, and 380 units of automotive and special equipment, are being deployed along the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh and along the Lachin corridor. The deployment of Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh has already been completed.
