French University Develops Programs to Support Soldier Students

The Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, Artur Martirosyan, met with the newly appointed rector of the French University in Armenia, Bertrand Vénard. During the meeting, the Deputy Minister was presented with and discussed the ongoing and upcoming plans of the French University, including actions aimed primarily at supporting soldier-students affected by the war.

Both parties agreed that gratitude for the courage and heroism of young people involved in the conflict should not be expressed only in words but through concrete actions. In line with this idea, the French University in Armenia has developed programs to help soldier-students reintegrate into civilian life and the educational process. These include social support, integrated education to bridge learning gaps, and psychological rehabilitation efforts.

The Deputy Minister welcomed the visitor, emphasizing Vénard's readiness to support students during these pivotal times for the country. "Words and actions are certainly not enough to appreciate the heroism of these young people, nor will they lessen the endless grief of families. Some were not drafted but went directly to the battlefield as volunteers to serve a homeland in danger. This is a great proof of nobility, and nobility is one of the core values of the French University," noted Rector Bertrand Vénard in his speech. He expressed the need to demonstrate profound gratitude, stating, "This is the minimum we can do."

Emphasizing that Armenia is in historic times, Deputy Minister Martirosyan highlighted the importance of social responsibility among higher education institutions. "The challenges and programs are common to all universities, as our students have actively participated in the defense of the homeland. In this regard, high social responsibility among universities is crucial, as it reflects the commitment to addressing the issues facing our country. Participating in the defense of the homeland entails great civil responsibility, and therefore students must not suffer in any case. This is also about providing psychological support," concluded Artur Martirosyan.

The Deputy Minister mentioned that various packages to support students who participated in the war are currently under discussion. At the end of the meeting, several strategic projects aimed at further expanding and developing the activities of the French University were also discussed.
